Feeling a little stuffed after the holidays? How about your machine?
Regular cleaning of your machine is essential for pleasurable sewing.
This is even more critical if you are using cotton thread or batting. When you sew, the lint gets caught in the cracks and crevices of the bobbin case and under the feed dogs. Just like when your husband wears a pair of too tight jeans, your machine can't move the way it's supposed to. Use a can of compressed air and pick out the lint and dust from the bobbin case, the hook, and under the feed dogs. Do this at least between each project; more often if you're using cotton thread. Your manual will give instructions, or you can search online for your machine type.

Dad's Famous Hot Nuts
Well, it's a story how they got their name . . . Quite excellent, if I do say so.
Ingredients:
|
3 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
|
3 cups cashew nuts |
HEAT oven to 300 degrees.
Directions:
In medium saucepan melt butter at medium heat. Stir in Worcestershire, chili powder, cayenne and garlic powder until well mixed. Add cashews, stirring until nuts are evenly coated.
Transfer mixture to a 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake in 300 degree oven for 20 minutes, stirring twice. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes. Turn out onto paper towels to finish cooling.
